TRUE LIFE: I am Mitch Mason || Meet the Mason Brothers

Timing is everything.  When Mitch Mason moved to San Francisco and needed a job, his older brother and General Manager of Treasure Island Media, Matt Mason, gave him a break.  Matt was a little reluctant at first, mainly because he didn’t want to put any stress on their relationship but he had no choice once Paul Morris got his eyes on Mitch.

“I don’t usually go for the whole family thing at work but Paul hired him, before I could say different,” tells Matt. “So far I am very impressed with my kid brother. Poor Mitch will probably be pushed more than then the others because A) I know he can do the work B) I don’t want people thinking that just because he’s my brother that he isn’t working as hard.”

As general manager, Matt oversees the daily operation for the studio and its three offices. Matt’s a great business leader and has been know to lend “a hand” from time to time during a shoot.

Mitch’s role bears the title of Social Guru.  He’s taking T.I.M.’s social presence by the helm and working to create a space where men of like minded sexual interest can collaborate. Some have questioned Mitch’s ability to perform his role, but his results show other wise.

“I think everyone in my age group could call themselves a ‘Social Media Expert,’ does that mean everyone would be good at my job? Probably,” explains Mitch. “Before TIM I worked as a go-go dancer and club promoter. In gay culture, it doesn’t get more social than that. I’ve also been hooking up with an engineer from Twitter, which has proven helpful. If I need something, I just flirt for it. I also have my MBA for Duke, which sometimes helps.”

 Kicked out of his parent’s home for being gay, Matt quickly found his way to San Francisco where he met Paul Morris and began his career with Treasure Island.  Several years later, once Mitch came to terms with his sexuality, he too was forced out.  Thankfully Matt was there for Mitch, just as Paul was there for him.

Today the two brothers enjoy reconnecting and getting back to their boyish roots.  Both in work and life, the two have been natural best friends. Conflict rarely happens and when it does, they settle their responsible brothers.

“We mostly agree on everything and when we don’t, we settle our problems like grown men. We go out back and see who can piss the furthest. It worked when we were kids and still seems to work now.”
