Treasure Island Media presents the TRENCHCOAT CROWD

"Scuzzy seats and sticky floors might always have a place on 42nd Street, but the porn cinemas are gone forever - and at a cost that could not be calculated in property values. According to Samuel R. Delany, the Runyon of the red-light district, New York's porn theaters were "not at all [romantic]. But because of the people who used them, they were humane and functional, fulfilling needs that most of our society does not yet know how to acknowledge."

Just returned from a trip to NYC where TIM presented The Trenchcoat Crowd an evening of shorts at the NY MIX: 19th Annual Lesbian & Gay Experimental Film Festival.

The festival receives sponsorship and funding as a part of the Treasure Island Media/Gold Square Artist’s Grant Program, (which also annually funds filmmaker Todd Ahlberg , the San Francisco ATA Film Festival and other programs).

The evening featured new works by a number of artists including William Jones who presented a minimalist piece examining porn from the 70s and 80s

and Andre Hereford who presented a tongue-in-cheek take on straight boys' attitudes about the sexualized male body.
